I just came across your blog and was reading some of the critique of Rob Bell you did some three years ago. Nice work.
I’ve been reading up on a Rob Bell over the last year, or so, and actually just read is book “Jesus wants to save Christians.” You used the word subtle to describe chapter 2 of Velvet Elvis, it definitely applies here. The only words I can come up with is that Rob Bell likes to obfuscate the truth to keep people off balance. Now, being off balance could also be a form of getting pushed out of your comfort zone which Jesus was fond of doing. Yet, at the same time, Jesus stressed that we have a firm foundation nevertheless. A firm foundation, a brick if you will, to stand on and judge the springs.
Rob Bell was a preacher that at one time I simply didn’t trust, since analyzing that book I now think he is dangerous as someone trying to gently pull people away from Christ.
Keep up the good work, I’ll be following the blog.
